Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American TV chef personality. Burrell was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, reveals simple and easy to master cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell was employed for a time in New York at top restaurants as well as studied Italian cuisine traditions and landscape. Also, she was a contestant on Iron Chef America on Food Network. While growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion of cooking and food at a young age. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in managing restaurants when she received an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America has been a great learning experience. I couldn't be more educated or accomplished in my studies. After graduation, chef Burrell went on to spend one year in Italy studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one Michelin-starred restaurant located in Tuscany. In Italy, she developed a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This has had a profound impact on the way that Burrell approaches her cuisine. Burrell was a Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to enhance the lives of kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador and advocates awareness of childhood diabetes. In her capacity as a speaker, she is on the road to share her passion for cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate to be able to share her true passion with the people around her.
